Pidgin and MSN (certificate error for omega.contacts.msn.com)
I usually use Windows Live Messenger (on Windows), but since this last update things are not so great, I’m really starting to hate WLM.
Since I also use Fedora with Pidgin, I’ve downloaded the Pidgin version for windows, and I has really happy with it. But then the problems with omega.contacts.msn.com started.
Finally I follow some websites, but they we’re a kind of confusing, but i finally deal with the error.
First you need to download these files: PEM1 and PEM2, and renaming them to “Microsoft_Secure_Server_Authority_2010.pem” and “Microsoft_Internet_Authority_2010.pem”, and put them in “c:\Program Files\Pidgin\ca-certs\”. These are the certificates from Microsoft.
Then you need to download one more file, the omega.contacts.msn.com from here, rename it to omega.contacts.msn.com and put it into this folder: “C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\.purple\certificates\x509\tls_peers”.
Then start Pidgin, and everything will be ok
, i think LOL. Try it.
